Composition Blog #6

Here’s a quick(ish) video of a potential visual for me piece this semester (it took forever to upload, sorry for the delay). The music is Sketch for Winter VII – Abyss: For Cello by Louise Bock from Madison Wisconsin. Highly recommended for earilly still days. I just used Google Drive this time, so let me know if there’s difficulties accessing it. Thanks!

  1. Hi Benjamin!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to access your video; it says I need permission to view it. Perhaps you could try turning on link sharing (which is under the Share menu) and paste the URL it gives. Anyway, I was able to listen to the electronic cello piece linked in your post, and I find it very interesting. I’m curious how much of the sound variety is produced by the natural cello before effects are added. I look forward to hearing more as your project evolves.

  2. Thanks for letting me know, Ben. I saw you requested access and you should be able to view it now. I changed the link in the post with a “sharable” one.
Also I’m glad you gave Louise Bock a try, although it is completely irrelevant to my video haha! I just had it playing in the background as I was speaking so I thought I’d identify it for you all.

  3. Got it, Ben. Thanks for sharing your photos and thoughts! I think a piece based on places is a great idea. One thing you might want to think about now rather than later is the container that will act as the vessel for these places–how big is it? How do you get from one to another? Do you visit one at a time, or can you be in more than one place simultaneously?
